‘Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaiʻi

The ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center, part of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, connects Hawaiian culture with Maunakea’s astronomical research. Since 2006, it has offered educational programs for youth, including camps, after-school activities, and cultural workshops on science as well as environmental stewardship.

Mauna Kea Star Gazing Experience

Mauna Kea, or “White Mountain,” is renowned for its ideal stargazing conditions due to its high elevation and remote location. The Mauna Kea Stargazing program, at the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station (VIS), offers visitors a chance to explore the night sky through telescopes, with tours recommended due to the steep access road.
