Akaka Falls

Akaka Falls, located north of Hilo in Akaka Falls State Park, has an entrance fee for both drivers and pedestrians. The family-friendly hike takes about 90 minutes and starts easily from the parking lot.

Rainbow Falls

Lower Wailuku River Falls, located in Hilo Town, is an 80-foot cascade over a lava cave. Legend says it was home to Hina, the goddess of the moon. Easily visible from the parking lot, it’s best visited early for a rainbow in the mist. Allow 30 minutes for the stop.

Kauwehu Falls

(Upper Wailuku River) It make be the longest waterfall hike. It is located inside the Hilo Watershed Forest Reserve.
